X-Cite XYLIS II™

The X-Cite XYLIS™ II is a true arc lamp replacement, providing outstanding brightness and broad-spectrum illumination for both routine and advanced fluorescence imaging. With quieter operation—up to 10 dB less noise than the original XYLIS—and increased optical output, it delivers the broadest spectrum available in a white-light LED for microscopy.
Powered by patented LaserLED Hybrid Drive® technology, the XYLIS II effectively bridges the traditional LED “green gap,” offering bright, uniform excitation across the visible spectrum. This whisper-quiet system provides all the advantages of LED illumination—long lifetime, low maintenance, and instant ON/OFF performance—without compromising power, flexibility, or cost efficiency.

Designed for versatility, the X-Cite XYLIS II delivers excitation from DAPI to Cy7, covering the full range of commonly used fluorophores:
This broad spectral output ensures compatibility with a wide range of fluorophores, making the XYLIS II a flexible choice for modern fluorescence microscopy.
The X-Cite XYLIS II delivers illumination levels comparable to traditional arc lamps while providing the consistency, longevity, and convenience of LED technology. Its high output supports use on both compound and stereomicroscopes, allowing users to extend the performance and lifespan of existing equipment while reducing maintenance and operational costs.
With enhanced output and remarkably quiet performance, the X-Cite XYLIS II maintains a peaceful lab environment—ideal for shared imaging facilities or multi-station FISH labs. Researchers can now enjoy the benefits of LED illumination—efficiency, instant responsiveness, and low operating noise—without compromise.
Engineered for adaptability, the X-Cite XYLIS II delivers light through a liquid light guide and can be used with more than a dozen microscope adaptors, or directly where compatible. Whether upgrading existing instruments or configuring new systems, XYLIS II offers straightforward installation and compatibility with most fluorescence microscopes.
Available in 365 nm and 385 nm models, it allows users to match their preferred DAPI filter sets, while the “UV Off” mode protects sensitive samples and extends light guide life when UV illumination isn’t required.
The X-Cite XYLIS II features comprehensive control options—manual fingertip control via the speedDIAL™, hands-free operation using a foot pedal, and USB and TTL inputs for automated workflows.
The ergonomic speedDIAL features a large, speed-sensitive intensity knob that doubles as a power switch, enabling fast, intuitive adjustments. A quick double-tap returns to a preset intensity level for consistent imaging.
With instant ON/OFF control, users can minimize photobleaching and phototoxicity during imaging. The XYLIS II integrates easily with commercial imaging software, and an available SDK supports custom automation and control solutions.

The X-Cite XYLIS II streamlines the imaging setup by replacing multiple components—arc lamp, shutter, and neutral density filters—with a single, efficient device.
Researchers benefit from long LED lifetimes, consistent illumination, and minimal maintenance. Reduced energy use, the elimination of mercury, and fewer consumables translate to significant long-term savings and support for environmentally responsible laboratory practices.
